Another thing I plan to post on is the progress of settling in our SoOh home. Unfortunately I can't bring myself to have a photoshoot with a bunch of boxes. It's only been a week and I'm a bit impatient and I want to jump into the fun stuff like decorating, gardening, housewarming parties etc. Until the boxes are all unpacked and the items are all placed, I can only daydream about how I want my homestead to look. And while I daydreamed, I started thinking about how different this place is than the house I grew up in. And as I thought about this, I was sitting on the toilet (Ok, I know that isn't the most ladylike thing to mention but I have a point here). The toilet is a regular old hard (what I'm assuming is acrylic) seat which is contrary to what I grew up with. I grew up with one of those cushioned seats which quite frankly gives me the heebie jeebies now. I also grew up with carpet and I now prefer wood floors. I kept on thinking about this and now I have a list of...
Things I grew up with but no longer like:
- Carpet
- Cushioned Toilet seats
- Tile floor
- No Front Porch
- White Walls
Things I grew up with and still love today:
- Patterned Couches
- Real Leather Couches
- Lots of Couch Pillows
- Mason jars filled with Treats
- Animal Print
- Bright Color Accents
- Plaid
So much of my style is based on my Mother's taste and she did have some great taste. Sure the carpet is a bit dated but it was a different time when she grew up and acquired her taste. And we actually do have carpet on our stairs and I must say digging my toes into the soft , supple carpet brings back a lot of fond memories. What things do you love or no longer like from your childhood home?
