Olive - Dayton

Have you noticed this iconic sign in Downtown Dayton? Well I sure have and recently a restaurant called Olive opened in this very building which is located at 416 East Third St., Dayton, OH 45402. They soft open on Tuesday, July 5th and you can find out more info at their facebook page. They serve American style food that appears to be bought locally and they even support local bands! Overall this place looks like a great locally owned joint and I look forward to checking it out.

We weren't able to get in during their soft opening because they were so full and instead we went to White Lotus. Well, today we had the pleasure of going and they were rightfully full the last time because this place is great! I had the chicken salad and Kyle had the hummus and both tasted fresh and delicious. We also had the Soup du Jour; a zucchini/green bean bisque that was served lukewarm which was perfect because on a hot day nothing is worse than hot soup. This place is quaint and intimate inside and they also have an outdoor area with umbrellas. Of course we'll have to try sitting out there on a cooler day but it looks really cute out there. Another great perk of this place is that it is BYOB (bring your own beer/alcohol) which personally I find that cheaper and more fun. They also do carryout. Last but not least, they serve Jeni's Splendid Ice-Creams! As you may know, I used to live in Northeast Ohio where I was only a short distance from Jeni's Chagrin Falls location but alas I never went, my loss. Jeni, if you are out there and you find this post, the Oregon District would be happy to have you! I recommend the Rockmill Golden Ale and Apricot; all the sweet taste of beer without the bitter bite. Olive is definitely now one of our go to places to eat.
