You may have been just as shocked as I was when I discovered (after writing half my post) that the Tri-State Antique Market is in Indiana NOT Southern Ohio. I had decided to scrap the post but I kept it saved in my drafts. An hour or so later, I started to think about why I scrapped it and the rules I have for my blog. I don't have any hard and fast rules but I definitely have a vision for what I want the blog to focus on, also having Southern Ohio in the name really focuses what the blog is about. But living in Southern Ohio is more than just places and things to do here. I thought about why I loved living down here and a huge part of it is having short driving access to so many neat Midwestern and Southern cities. As you know, living in Dayton I'm but an hour or so drive to Cincinnati and Columbus (not Southern Ohio) in either direction. I'm also a couple hours drive to Cleveland (also not Southern Ohio). And still again, I'm only a couple hours from more out of state cities; Indianapolis, Louisville, Lexington, and Pittsburgh. And when I think back to my childhood living in Southern Ohio, some of my fondest memories were partaking in the Great American road trip. Spending family time cruising on the highways, in the back seat of my Dad's classic Oldsmobile, while the sun is blazing off the pavement on a hot summer day in August, is truly a part of a time honored tradition I highly enjoyed. And as much as I love talking about Southern Ohio, I've decided I'm not going to hesitate sharing what I feel is a part of being a Southern Ohioan, a Ohioan, a Midwesterner. So occasionally I will share things that involve travel to neighboring cities and states because I think it's relevant to living in Southern Ohio.
And I do realize that other people probably wouldn't have batted an eyelash at this post but I just wanted to share some internal monologue with you all. This post was a bit special for me to write because as I was writing it made me remember a fond memory with my Dad and that's very special to me since I no longer get to make new memories with him. So if you are feeling like I am; a bit nostalgic and looking forward to your next road trip, you may want to consider checking out my post here. Thanks for driving down memory lane with me.
