I haven't had a nerd post in a while (or any post for that matter) so I thought it would be a nice departure from all the SoOh related posts to have one. This actually isn't going to be THAT nerdy of a post because I'm going to list my top ten eight Hollywood popcorn movies that I can watch again and again.
Extreme guilty pleasure but for some reason that Gouda joke gets me every time. See it here or below.
This holiday gem is on Netflix and typically I wouldn't put it on a list like this but ya know, tis the season and all. It stars that girl who was sort of a singer, Christina Milian...yea I know I don't remember her much either that's why I said sort of.
6. My Dog Skip
For this one I tend to watch just the end which makes me cry every time. Something about Harry Connick's raspy, honey drawl and that little old terrier struggling to get on the bed to..breathe his last, um...you'll have to excuse me...I'm...getting...emotional...
5. Paprika
Total nerd alert here...it's an anime. And I know what you are thinking and no, it's not like Dragon Ball Z or Sailor Moon, it's artistic like Spirited Away...ok, I'm not helping my case that this list wouldn't be nerdy, am I?
4. Gattaca
I love this movie and my list gets pretty sci-fi friendly from here on out. This was back when Jude Law, Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman were interesting to watch. Not so much anymore with movies like Alfie, Daybreakers and Motherhood.
5. Men in Black
Before Mr. Smith started making all those Oscar Bait films he was taking numbers and kicking ass. I can't get enough of him in this movie with his funny and faux-street swagger style which by the way he is trying to reprise in Men in Black 3 (see below) and it ain't working; living as a multimillionaire makes you lose all "street-cred". On another note, the man doesn't age, he looks incredible!! Good genes and again multimilonaire living helps with that.
Aliens, Will Smith, explosions...pretty on par with why I loved the above and why I love this movie too.
There's not much to be said about this because clearly this is a great flick. It's especially meaningful for those of us born between 1980-1990 (yea, even three year-olds would have agreed it was the best). I still get amazed at the graceful mix of puppetry and CGI. We frankly need more of a better mix because there is nothing as visceral as seeing an actual tangible well-crafted puppet bear it's wet menacing teeth; it's amazing! Uh and of course Jeff Goldblum, hello! And it even has Samuel L. Jackson! It seriously can't get anymore watchable than those two.
...
Do you have any watch again and again movies?
