Things I Need To Do In Dayton

via Hydorscapes Dayton

I've decided I need to compile a list of "To Dos" around Dayton and eventually around all of SoOh. Although Dayton is my hometown there are so many things I haven't gone to and/or done before. So every two weeks, I'm going to try to find new and interesting things I haven't done around town, list them and then do them! I was inspired by a commenter at my blog who is taking a day trip to Dayton from big-city Cincinnati. Ally has an awesome blog called Fever Thrift. It's all about thrifting in Cincinnati so you should definitely check it out. I hope Ally has fun doing some small-city activities in Dayton and maybe she'll even have some fun that I haven't even had yet! So without further ado:

THINGS I NEED TO DO IN DAYTON
(week of July 4th)

Ok I think that is doable in two weeks. Until next time...I love SoOh!

  1. OH MY GOSH THIS IS SO SWEET OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thank you, thank you, thank you for including me in your post.

when i first started reading this post, i literally had just been talking to my husband about how we need to figure out the top things in dayton to do and we had just googled something like "top things to do in dayton" and didn't come up with great results. so, i was super excited to see your post title because i had seriously JUST been talking about it.

btw- we had a great time in dayton today :) i hit up the goodwill by the fairfield commons mall and i loved it. we spent the rest of the time apartment hunting so we didn't get to see as much of the city as we would have liked but i guess that's for next time.

  2. Oh course!! I love your blog. I haven't thrifted for clothes in so long. I've been mostly obsessed with decor items and furniture but your blog makes me want to jump back in. You find the cutest stuff! That Goodwill is great. You will def have to come back and check out some of the sights. I hope your apartment hunting went well. It can be such a pain. Are you moving to the Dayton area, if you don't mind me asking

  3. i'm so glad that you are enjoying my blog!!! i love thrifting for furniture/home decor too, but since we are moving here soon, the husband has asked that i hold back til we find out exactly what kind of furniture we need. and yep! we are moving to dayton. the husband just got a job at wright-patt. we're looking around centerville/kettering/beavercreek. do you have any suggestions? we really know NOTHING about dayton so are just kind of going off people's recommendations.

  4. oh wow, awesome! Congrats! My husband would be just like yours and say the same thing; guys, aren't they so practical :P I have family in centerville and there are some really nice homes specifically off alex bell rd. Though I've only seen big family type homes. Kettering is ok. A bit suburbie. I've heard good things about Beavercreek and I think a lot of families from the base live there. Sorry I don't have specific info. I usually look at the city data forums, here's the one for Dayton maybe it will help http://www.city-data.com/forum/dayton/

I would of course suggest the Oregon District. It's been so great living here and we have walkable access to great shops, bars and restaurants. The neighborhood also feels quaint with a nice park and young families. Oh and of course having walking access to Goodwill is great! We've really liked Dayton specifically the downtown area. It has a lot of big city perks without feeling overwhelming (if that makes sense). Anyway, good luck with your search, keep me posted!
